iPhone 18: Release Date, Colours & What's New (2026 Guide)

News & Guides · Published August 2026 · By Case Collection

The next iPhone is almost here — and this year the launch looks a little different. Everything points to Apple splitting the iPhone 18 family across two releases, with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max arriving first this autumn and the standard iPhone 18 following in early 2027. Here's what we know so far about the iPhone 18 release date, the rumoured colours (including a deep new shade called Dark Cherry that we're quietly obsessed with), and what's actually new — plus how to have your new iPhone protected the moment it lands in your hands.

A quick note before we start: the iPhone 18 hasn't been announced yet, so everything below is based on the most reliable leaks and reports circulating ahead of Apple's autumn event. We'll update this guide the moment Apple makes it official. And when the iPhone 18 does land, every one of our hand-illustrated designs will be available for it — MagSafe-ready, CoreShock™ protected and charm-ready, just as they are for every iPhone today.

Frequently asked questions

1. When Is the iPhone 18 Coming Out?

Apple has held its iPhone launch event in September every year for over a decade, and 2026 looks no different — but with a twist. Reports point to a split launch for the iPhone 18 generation. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be unveiled in September 2026, following Apple's usual pattern of an announcement in the second week of the month, pre-orders that same week, and phones on shelves the following Friday.

The bigger change is at the other end of the range: the standard iPhone 18 and a new budget-friendly iPhone 18e are rumoured to slip to spring 2027 rather than launching alongside the Pro models. Apple's first foldable — widely dubbed the iPhone Fold — is also expected to arrive in the autumn 2026 window. In short: if you want a new iPhone this year, the Pro and Pro Max are the models to watch.

2. The iPhone 18 Line-up: Pro, Pro Max, Fold & More

Here's how the generation is shaping up, based on current reporting:

  • iPhone 18 Pro — the flagship 6.3" model, expected September 2026
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max — the larger 6.9" flagship, expected September 2026
  • iPhone Fold — Apple's first foldable, expected autumn 2026
  • iPhone 18 — the standard model, rumoured for spring 2027
  • iPhone 18e — a more affordable option, also rumoured for spring 2027

It's the first time Apple would stagger a mainline iPhone launch like this, so expect plenty of noise between now and the event. We'll keep this guide updated as the picture firms up.

3. iPhone 18 Colours: Dark Cherry Leads the Way

This is the part we get most excited about — because the colour you choose sets the tone, and the case you pair with it finishes the look. Leaks so far suggest the iPhone 18 Pro will arrive in four finishes:

  • Dark Cherry — a rich, berry-toned red that's tipped to be the flagship new shade of the year
  • Light Blue — a soft, airy pastel blue
  • Dark Gray — a deep, understated graphite
  • Silver — the timeless neutral

A gorgeous phone colour and a beautiful case aren't an either/or. If you fall for Dark Cherry, a warm, painterly design plays to it beautifully; Light Blue sits perfectly with our calm blues like Ethereal Dawn and Moonlit Tide; and Dark Gray or Silver are the perfect blank canvas for something bold — leopard, cow print or a swirl of cosmic colour. Think of the finish as the frame and the case as the picture.

4. What's New on the iPhone 18 Pro?

Beyond the colours, the iPhone 18 Pro is shaping up to be a meaningful upgrade under the hood. The headline rumours:

  • New A20 chip — built on a next-generation 2nm process, reportedly around 15% faster and up to 30% more power-efficient than the current generation
  • Variable aperture camera — a main lens that can physically adjust how much light it lets in, for more control over depth of field and low-light shots
  • A smaller Dynamic Island — said to be roughly 35% narrower, giving you back more screen
  • A cleaner back design — a unified rear glass that does away with the current two-tone look
  • Better battery and cooling — a slightly thicker chassis making room for a larger battery and improved vapour-chamber cooling
  • LTPO+ display and next-gen connectivity — including a new in-house modem with satellite features

One thing that isn't changing yet: under-display Face ID appears to have been pushed beyond 2026, so the sensor housing stays where it is. For most people, the real story is a faster, cooler, longer-lasting phone with a smarter camera — and a fresh set of colours to show it off.

5. How Much Will the iPhone 18 Cost?

Nothing is confirmed, but several analysts expect Pro pricing to climb this year, driven by the new chip process and camera hardware. Whatever the final figure, a flagship iPhone is a serious investment — which makes protecting it from the first day all the more sensible.

6. Will My Current Case Fit the iPhone 18?

Almost certainly not. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to bring new dimensions, a redesigned rear and a reworked camera area, which means older cases — including iPhone 17 ones — won't line up correctly around the buttons and lenses. When you upgrade, you'll want a case cut specifically for your iPhone 18 model, both for a clean fit and to properly protect that new camera system.

7. Protect It From Day One

A brand-new iPhone is at its most vulnerable in its first week — new phone, new grip, and that irresistible urge to use it everywhere. The moment the iPhone 18 models are confirmed, we'll add them across our full design range, so you can order a case cut for your exact model and have it ready to go on.

Every Case Collection case is built on the same foundation, whichever design and model you choose:

  • CoreShock™ 10ft drop protection — built into the shell, invisible until you need it
  • MagSafe ready — N52 magnets, 1600g hold, so it snaps onto MagSafe chargers, car mounts and stands first try
  • Soft microfibre lining and raised edges to protect the screen and camera
  • Glossy, anti-fade, scratch-resistant finish so the print stays vivid
  • Printed in our London studio using 50% recycled materials, and shipped in a gift box with a velvet pouch

While you wait, our current best-selling designs give you a real feel for what's coming — the same prints, protection and finish, ready for your iPhone 18 the day it launches. Don't forget the screen either — a good case and a screen protector together are the simplest way to keep a brand-new iPhone 18 looking brand new.

8. Complete the Look: Pair Any Design With a Phone Charm

A new phone is the perfect excuse for a fresh look — and nothing changes the feel of a phone faster than a phone charm. Every charm ships with a universal Tether Tab, so any charm pairs with any case, on any iPhone, MagSafe or not.

How to attach a phone charm: thread the included Tether Tab through your case's charm hole (or trap it under the edge of the case if yours has none), then clip the charm to the tab. No lanyard hole required, and it works as a phone charm strap on MagSafe cases too. Want the full style breakdown? Read our Phone Charm Aesthetics guide.

Frequently asked questions

When is the iPhone 18 coming out?

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch at Apple's event in September 2026, following the usual pattern of a mid-September announcement and on-sale date about a week later. The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e are rumoured to arrive later, in spring 2027.

What colours will the iPhone 18 come in?

Leaks suggest the iPhone 18 Pro will come in four finishes: Dark Cherry (a rich berry red), Light Blue, Dark Gray and Silver. Nothing is confirmed until Apple's event, so the final line-up could change.

What's new on the iPhone 18 Pro?

The biggest rumoured upgrades are a faster, more efficient A20 chip on a 2nm process, a variable-aperture main camera, a smaller Dynamic Island, a cleaner unified-glass back, and improved battery and cooling. Under-display Face ID is not expected this generation.

Will my iPhone 17 case fit the iPhone 18?

No. The iPhone 18 is expected to have new dimensions and a redesigned camera area, so iPhone 17 (and older) cases won't fit correctly. Choose a case made specifically for your iPhone 18 model for the right fit and camera protection.

Can I get a Case Collection case for the iPhone 18?

Yes — every one of our designs will be available for the iPhone 18 range as soon as the models are confirmed, each MagSafe-ready, CoreShock™ protected and charm-ready. Browse our current designs now to find your favourite, and check back here for the iPhone 18 links at launch.

Are Case Collection cases MagSafe compatible?

Yes — every case is MagSafe-ready with N52 magnets and 1600g of hold, so it clicks securely onto MagSafe chargers, wallets, stands and car mounts, and supports fast wireless charging.
